On an warm September evening, during a very confusing and uncomfortable part of my life, I was invited by a friend to a small party. On the way there, he gave me a little candy with a drop of LSD and told me to enjoy the ride. About an hour later, I was in a place that I didn’t know existed. The skies opened up, and I felt like I saw god. I was a child again, exploring a new world. Time seemed to warp and my vision was enhanced beyond what I could have possibly imagined

Little did I know that that tiny candy would change the trajectory of my entire life.

It started off as recreational. A fun thing to do with friends when I had an entire day free. I was at a low place in my life. I had just left my baby-daddy and was living in a tiny studio with my child. I barely had any money and I was very unclear on what my next step would be. And I knew I had to figure it out on my own.

Even after just one psychedelic trip, I gained immediate clarity. I gained the confidence to leave my toxic ex-husband who made me very unhappy. I realized that setting an empowered example for my daughter, then 2 years old, was more important than staying in an unhappy marriage just because we had a child together. I also realized I had taken on too much college coursework, so I dropped out of a few classes so that it was manageable while I restarted my life. Without my ex, and without support.

For some reason, after taking LSD just once, these decisions became so much easier for me. It became painful to remain stagnant instead of grow. I chose growth easily, and moved on to my new life, meeting resistance with courage and determination. I didn’t really realize the effect this drug had on me until later.

Now, almost 10 years later, I see the long term effects of intermittent psychedelic use in my life. And let me tell you, the effects are profound.

Studies are continually coming out, now, about the incredible effects that psychedelics can have on your life. While most psychedelics are still illegal, I am of the very strong opinion that the reason they are illegal is because they slowly peel the onion of your brain so you start to see the world through a different lens. A lens that provides you with an understanding and a personal power that you never had before. And once you have this different lens, you’ll never again see the world how you once did.
